Spelling variants:hasti-note
n.
a small folded card with a decorative front; a type of greeting card (see Image 1).
Type: 2. Preservation — The term is likely a preservation, as it is also found in the US in the 19th century. As Chart 1 shows, today the spelling variant hasti note is exclusively used in Canada. Internet searches reveal that hasti note is slightly more prevalent than hasti-note, but it is the latter variant that appears in some of the quotations below.
